Residents in Ventura County were treated to a morning Skywriting Birthday Celebration in Simi Valley, CA the other day. This very private gathering said “we made their day” They even saved me a slice of cake too. Ventura County doesn’t see much Skywriting, so the phones rang with many curious folks who were interested in having something like this for themselves.
Congratulations to a happy family in Glendale, CA. “It’s a Girl” Another successful surprise Gender Reveal. The conditions were perfect and Pink could be seen in the sky for some excited folks awaiting this celebration.
Those mysterious logos seen in the sky’s over Los Angeles were actually an ad campaign on behalf of Telfar Global. These brand logos were proudly placed in 10 cities around the LA area. The first location was Long Beach, California where a skydiver perfectly timed a jump through the middle of a completed Telfar Skywriting logo from over 12,000 feet high and landed perfectly at the designated target site below. The coolest part was that the Skydiver was carrying one of the Telfar luxury handbags with him on the freefall. What an impressive way for Telfar to make an entrance.
A lot of beach goers were treated to a Sarah sighting above the waters of Malibu, Ca. this past weekend. There were many Sara/Sarah selfies out there, but there was only one Sarah who got the surprise of a lifetime.
Coachella sends it warmest welcome. My Skywriter visits our friends in the Coachella Valley for some Happy Birthday wishes. Many of you from Bermuda Dunes to Thermal spotted us zipping around on this windy day. Thank you to all that said “Hello” and gave us a follow @myskywriter I’m looking forward to being back real soon.
What kind of weather is best? Blue skies are necessary for a viewable message. This means that it is possible to have some clouds in the sky, but not in or around the viewing area. Overcast and broken layer skies will certainly hinder seeing the message. Wind shear, turbulence, high winds, low humidity and excessive temperatures can cause Skywriting to dissipate. The maximum winds aloft at Skywriting altitude cannot exceed 30 MPH. If any of these conditions exist or a combination of a few are forecasted during the time of your message, we will suggest moving the time or date to facilitate better Skywriting conditions. It is required to have good weather conditions at the point of departure and the message location.
How long does it last? Skywriting is magical and every day can be a little different. It can last anywhere from a few moments to 20 minutes or sometimes longer depending on the weather conditions.
The average hang time for the first letter of a normal message is around 8-10 minutes. There are times where it lasts longer and sometimes shorter. I suggest creating a message with 5 letters or less. This will give you a moment to see it all up there as a completed message. Longer messages can be created but are dependent on mother nature’s weather and winds aloft. We recently wrote a Sky Message that also included a Heart and discovered that it had stayed legibly intact while traveling 25 miles away from its original target location over the course of 30 minutes.
Thank you to all that helped make Skywriting on Valentine’s Day a huge success. We made some last minute schedule changes to compete against the dynamic weather conditions. We found some blue sky and worked with the windy conditions making the day a successful one.
There are a few openings remaining for Valentine’s Day Skywriting. Make your reservation now! We are here to help you create your special message in the sky.
